The Parts of a Durham EV Charger Panel Upgrade
Durham panel jobs come in very different sizes, from one added breaker in a 2010s home to new service on a house built decades earlier. Depending on your load calculation, the job can include any of these parts:
- A load calculation adding up the heat pump, range, dryer and water heater, then comparing the total with the main breaker.
- The correct EV charger breaker size, with a 25 percent margin, so a 40-amp charger gets a 50-amp breaker and a 48-amp unit gets 60.
- Load management for EV charger circuits that pauses charging during heavy household demand.
- A subpanel for EV charger wiring, useful when the car parks in a detached garage or far from the main panel.
- A replacement panel for an old, worn or full one with no safe slot.
- A 200 amp service upgrade when 100-amp service cannot carry a charger.
- Meter work with Duke Energy Progress, scheduled by us.
- One City-County permit for the panel and charger, with the inspection booked in LDO.
